On Thursday evening exhibition organisers were out in force, with everyone from CEOs, to exhibition directors and sales and marketing specialists attending the first Glean Social.
They all came for the same reason. To learn more about how the social web is changing our industry, and in particular how organisers should be preparing to adapt and embrace this disruption when it arrives.
The evening certainly didn’t disappoint and first up we heard intriguing talks from two fantastic speakers, David Levin, CEO of UBM plc and Alan Moore, highly respected author and business transformation expert.
David kicked off, offering a fascinating insight into how the web is impacting on live media from his perspective, outlining how he believes events and the web are part of the same continuum.
Check out the video below to hear a couple of David’s key points:
Next up was Alan Moore, if you saw our video blog with Alan a couple of weeks back, you will already know that Alan specialises in business transformation and innovation.
Alan elaborated on those themes and his talk was thought-provoking, highlighting some inspiring case studies from the likes of Lego, MIT and Airbnb. All demonstrating how their businesses have survived AND thrived through non-linear thinking and innovation in these turbulent times.
After Alan’s talk we asked a couple of attendees what they thought, watch the video below to hear what they had to say:
With the talks wrapped up, it was time to drink and network and that is exactly what happened!
The room was buzzing as everyone conversed, learned and socialised over common experiences, opportunities and challenges.
All in all an extremely educational, sociable and fun evening was had by all. Check out the video below to hear what some of our attendees thought about the evening, and check out our Storify for all the Twitter buzz.
And so, the first Glean Social came to a close. Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you found the evening valuable.
For those who were not able to attend, don’t worry, there will be more Glean Socials to come in the near future!
